Roberta Jackson is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, (SPHR) and a certified Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) as awarded by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). These professional credentials signify that Ms. Jackson possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in both domestic and international human resource management, and thus validates her mastery of the human resources body of knowledge. In addition Ms. Jackson has demonstrated a strong background of professional human resource experience.

Roberta possesses more than 25 years of experience in her profession including several leadership positions overseeing human resources and training and organizational development for a number of organizations. Over the years, Roberta has acquired hands-on experience in all aspects of the human resources discipline through positions such as benefits manager, director of human resources, vice president of human resources and executive level consultant for companies in various business sectors. In 2007 Roberta started her own consulting company and continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to her profession by pursuing human resources education at the post-collegiate level.

Extensive experience working for companies with different business models has led to Roberta’s strong belief that investing in employee development should be one of the primary objectives for all organizations and a planned component of its primary business plan.

“Often employers put a hold on organizational development in times of change or downsizing. However, these are crucial times to further develop your staff. This is not the time to leave employees on their own to deal with the tides of change,” says Jackson.

As a writer and facilitator of numerous development and training programs, Roberta possesses the expertise to guide companies as they achieve their corporate goals and succession planning by investing in the growth of employees. Working with employees at all levels within an organization, Roberta can create custom programs that target specific business goals.

“Boiler plate training does not take into account each industry or the different learning styles of employees who are members of several generations. Employees can lose interest quickly if a training program does not address their specific needs and situations,” she says.

Roberta has served a cross-sector of clients, including global organizations, from the engineering, architecture, healthcare, IT, professional services, transportation, education, e-commerce, emergency services and entertainment industries. Additionally, she is qualified to conduct psychological assessments including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® (MBTI), Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI), Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior™ (FIRO-B®). Roberta is qualified to administer hundreds of other Assessments including Pre-employment screenings.

“Choosing the right person for the right job at the right time is an essential piece of successful talent management and succession strategies. Assessments from the pre-employment stage through an employee’s rise to upper management help to guide organizations in making sound selections,” says Jackson. “We are facing a skills shortage in the global workforce that will increase over the next 15 years. Developing future leaders is crucial to organizational success.”

Roberta works with organizations to align Human Resources strategy, services and programs with its business strategy. This is done in several ways including conducting a Human Resources audit with a compliance review, creating a new or updating existing Human Resources processes, providing professional administration of assessment tools, and developing training and development programs to meet the changing needs of each business.

Roberta is a founding member of Baruch College’s Human Resources Advisory Board and helped to establish the human resources certification program at the Continuing and Professional Studies Program where she teaches.
